I’ve personally experienced this unproductive state way too many times that it forced me to find solutions.
A great place to start is to realize and accept the fact that you can’t do it all. As an entrepreneur, most of us suffer from what I call a “super-hero” syndrome. We load ourselves with a never-ending to-do list.
As a CEO of your business, you must work on growing your business. You have to focus majority of your time on your income-producing activities. You’ve got to zoom in and figure out a way to operate in your area of strength, and then potentially outsource the rest.

1. You’ve got to get organized and plan ahead.
Really plan your day the day before, sometimes the week before.
I’m very organized, very structured with my time, and not just my business activities, but also time with the family and my kids. Don’t just let your day control you. You control the day. – John Melton
2. You can’t really manage your time. I don’t know if that’s possible, but you can set your priorities. Decide what your priorities are and schedule your day around those priorities.
Don’t try to manage your time. Determine what your priorities are, and then schedule your day around your priorities.
Every day, instead of having a that should-do list (they’re not must-do), figure out what your one thing is every day that you have to do, and just do one.

3. You have to get really clear with what it is that you want, and why you want it.
The minute you become clear with your goals, you become powerful. Then anything that doesn’t get you closer to that goal you need to eliminate from your to-do list.
And … you’ve got to outsource. The biggest landmine you must avoid is spend your precious time doing admin-type of activities. Those activities that are not getting you closer to their goal have to go. So get clear with what is it that makes you money, spend most of your time doing those (income-producing) activities, and everything else, hey, you can outsource.
4. Bonus TIP with Ian Lenhart
Create consistent actions that you’re doing every single day that set your day up for success rather than overcrowding yourself with 10 unrealistic things to do.
Make it simple. If you’re going to call 5 people, call those 5 people. If you’re going to meet up with 3 friends, make sure you meet those 3 friends. Make sure set realistic expectations and you accomplish those goals.
