In this video, John and I cover four simple ways that you can increase engagement on your Facebook Live broadcasts. Higher engagement means bigger reach!

4 Simple Ways to Increase Engagement on Your Live Videos

4 Simple Ways to Increase Engagement on Your Live Videos

1) When you open up your broadcast, you need to jump right in!

When you start your video, introduce yourself and tell people what you’ll be covering and what to do. Be crystal clear on what you’re going to be talking about and jump right in.

Tell people, “As you join me, can you jump into the chat, let me know where you’re coming from, and say hello so I can give you a shout out”, but don’t sit and wait for people to comment.

Open up, smile, and tell them what you are going to do. If you’re not entertaining and delivering value right from the beginning, people will jump off and you will lose them.

2) Ask questions throughout the video

If you’re covering a topic and you’re just talking, it’s good to ask a question so people are more engaged. This is known as creating a break in communication. It gets people more involved. People are more excited when they feel as if they are a part of the broadcast.

3) Ask people to share (and, on Facebook, tag!)

Never assume that people will remember to share your video. Ask them to share your video and tag you.

4) Recognize the behavior that you want to see more often

If someone engages with you, thank them or acknowledge them. This encourages them to keep engaging and inspires others to do the same.

If you follow these four tips and provide value to your audience, you should see a steady increase in your video engagement on social media. When you’re making videos, remember to talk about stuff people care about.
